The bathroom is an important room in the house. Not only for you as an everyday user but also for your guests. Aside from leaving a lasting impression, it’s important for personal hygiene reasons that your bathroom is cleaned and maintained as often as possible.
Of course, it’s not going to be your favourite room in the house to clean, but you can make it easier by completing small everyday tasks that only take a few minutes at a time. Here are some daily hacks that you can complete here and there to keep your bathroom squeaky clean for longer.
Keep Disinfectant Wipes Handy
The bathroom vanity and sink can easily build up hair, toothpaste and other unwanted messes. Store a packet of disinfectant wipes in your drawer or storage basket and use them once a day, discarding after a good wipe of the surfaces (don’t forget the tapware!).
Invest In A Shower Squeegee
Keep a squeegee in the shower and give the glass a wipe down from the water after use. Not only will it remove unsightly watermarks from the inside, it will also remove soap scum that can build up and be difficult to remove over time. A squeegee is an inexpensive tool that will keep your shower fresh.
Empty The Bin
Although your household rubbish may be collected once a week, make a habit of taking out the bathroom bin more often. No one wants an overfilled bathroom bin or the smells that come with it! After throwing out the rubbish, be sure to give your bin a good spray of hospital-grade disinfectant.
Give The Mirror A 15-Second Wipe
This one is such a quick task – it’ll only take 15 seconds! Get rid of unpleasant face wash splatters and watermarks on your mirror by spraying glass cleaner and wiping it down in a rapid circular motion with a paper towel or microfibre cloth till the mirror shines.
Use Organising Baskets
Keep your vanity top clear by labelling some baskets and organising your toiletries. In the drawers or on shelves, get into the habit of putting back your hairbrush, face wash and other personal products after you use them. Baskets keep things neat and make it easier for you to wipe down surfaces rather than having to pick up after every individual item.
Fill The Hamper
Keep clothes and towels off the floor by putting a hamper in your bathroom. A hamper makes laundry day easier and keeps the bathroom tidy. It’s especially useful if you have a family with little ones and can teach the kids where to put dirty clothes.
Open The Window
As simple as it is, opening the window will stimulate airflow into the bathroom and dry up moisture that could lead to mould. The bathroom is vulnerable to mould more than other areas of the house because of its exposure to steam and damp surfaces. Help prevent mould issues by opening up the window every day – it’s a natural protector!
